Capricorn Full Moon - June 23

several gears shift during this powerful full moon in the sign Capricorn, the Sea Goat. The moon is at it's"perigee" meaning the moon is very close to the earth so the feeling of the moon will be stronger. That feeling could be described as tense, overwhelming, charged or just a bit loony. Situations that have been blocked could finally be released at this time and the feeling of relief or pleasure will be especially strong.

Adding to the punch is the Mercury who is slowing down to go Retrograde and Jupiter leaving Gemini and entering Cancer where it is especially dignified a rare "Grand Trine" alignment between Sun, Saturn and Neptune which is a positive sign of potential blessings and good fortune over the time period especially for those working in some kind of mystical or spiritual paradigm like yoga or meditation.

Capricorn The Sea Goat
Capricorn is an Cardinal Earth sign meaning it initiates and stabilizes, an apparent paradox much like that of  the Capricorn Glyph which depicts a Quinotaur which is half fish and Goat (or bull).  This sea-goat myth is much deeper than people realize and is the root for a few recognizeable modern horror movie tropes. Some of these more perisistent tropes were were popularized by the author H.P. Lovecraft.

Lovecraft himself was actually inspired by a much more ancient collection of stories, that of the creator God of Sumeria and Babylon who was depicted as half fish and half man. This being came out of the waters at day with the knowledge and tools to create what we now know as civilization: art, music, agriculture, architecture, ect  He also built stone megalithic structures with the help of his tools, one of which was the 'ruler' which allowed for him to calculate precise measurements. This device is where we get the idea of "Rulership" and it is this virtue that is Germain to Capricorn.

Capricorn  forms the roots from which structure can grow and eventually support systems be they family, business or civilization itself.

Capricorn likes to build things and at it's root it is idea of building civilization itself. For this he gets credit as God but also the distinction of being the devil in the sense of matter being sometimes seen as a trap for spirit.

In the Tarot each major cards are assigned a planetary, alchemical, elemental or Zodiacal attribution and the "Devil card" goes to Capricorn. This card is also sometimes referred to as "lord of the Gates of Matter" and here we find an important  double-idea: Literal matter a  material, earth and substance and the metaphorical idea of matter as the underlying point or reason of a thing. What really matters? What is the goal? What are you doing and to what end?

When Capricorn folks are depressed and feeling morbid they will ask "whats the point?" Or assert that "nothing matters". Really, a lot of people says this when they are depressed but Capricorn's are known for depression just as Aries is known for anger and Virgo is known for neurosis.

Though that's hardly the limit of the Capricorn psyche. There is forethought, practicality, lust, love expressed as duty and even a sense of humor too albeit a dry, sardonic kind. These qualities of  Lust and humor are really the more under-recognized values of Capricorn.

 Climbing the ladder of Success
Goats climb. Most obviously, goats climb mountains and generally seem to like being on top of things be they mountain peaks or dog houses or cows. They naturally seek out the high ground and make it their home.  (They also have square eyes and 5 stomachs but whatever)

Capricorn type personalities (people with sun/moon or ascendant in Cap)  also like to "climb"  often it's less prosaic but not always (especially those with Mars in Capricorn).  Capricorn types strive for excellence sometimes by "climbing the coperate ladder" and they also like to "be on top of things" in the sense of having their lives together, solid and secure. Being "on top of things" means paying bills, avoiding debt,  buying a home, starting a family or just doing the dishes.

this is almost certainly more entertaining:  http://goatsonthings.tumblr.com/
Strategy is another quality of Capricorn and "being on top of things" includes gaining the high ground which has been known to be good military strategy since before Sun Tzu wrote about it in the Art of War. -It gives the advantage of perspective and foresight.

Unlike the optimistic perspective of Sagittarius, Capricorn is more critical, skeptical and doubtful. The foresight is less about opportunity and more along the lines of avoiding disaster, but not always. Capricorns know a good deal when they see it.

Capricorn is the part of our life that is structured, ordered and lawful. People who live their lives with structure and order and obey some sort of law -even one that violates the law of the land- will elevate themselves to position of power even if that power is simply starting and supporting a family. For others that position is one of owning a business or coming into a position of leadership.

FULL MOON 02ยบ CAPRICORN

A Capricorn full moon is when the Sun in cancer is opposite the moon in the sign of Capricorn. This is a balancing act where we must find our feelings and comfort zone (cancer) in relation to our need for material security, our position in life and sense groundedness. It's the balance of needs: Emotional vs Material security.

If things aren't quite right in this area we will be uncomfortable, frustrated and depressed. Like all full moons it will come with a feeling of tension that something must change. Often "light will be shed" on an issue and this illumination will shine the way into a different future or way of being.

Tension will be felt even if good things are happening and this can be very stimulating as often as it can be unpleasant. It really depends on how you have structured your life.

Jupiter is very near the Sun at the time of the full moon which is a sign that there is an expansive potentially beneficial element within this time period. Despite what tensions may be felt and what frustrations are experienced there is high hope, expectations and optimism perhaps still lingering from the Sun-Jupiter conjunction just a few days prior. Pluto is also present with the moon adding to the tension and deep feelings however  it's a bit farther out than Jupiter and will probably not be as noticeable unless you have planets in the natal chart getting aspected by Pluto at this time.

Jupiter Exalted

Just after the full moon Jupiter will end it's year long transit of Gemini and enter into the sign of Cancer where it is especially dignified. Jupiter is promise, hope, growth and expansion and when in Gemini it has been a bit of hot air for some of us. A lot of talk, some action but not necessarily all that we had hoped. In cancer there is more payoff or at least our expectations are a bit more practical. Here when growth happens it will occur in a careful progression rather than a capricious back-and-forth that we may have experienced with Jupiter in Gemini. Wealth too may come though via Family, females and real world materials rather than abstracts and promises to pay.

Mercury Retrograde
Here we go again with one of Astrology's more lamented cycles. It's not the cause of all your problems but it is a sign that you might want to double check communications and expect some kind of backtracking to happen. It's also a good time for reconnecting with friends or going back over unfinished paperowork and related tasks. Mercury rules Mechanical things, communications, friends and siblings. It does not rule relationships, accidents, feelings of depression, ect. No need to tweak.

Mercury is slowing down to reverse it's direction and go retrograde from June 26 to July 21
and it's the speed of a planet that is important rather than the direction it appears to be moving so many will be noticing this time as unusual in the way that mercury retrograde periods are famous for.  The strongest periods for reversals, technological or mechanical malfunctions and other Mercurial issues will be from the 24th - 28th but this is very approximate.

As mentioned in previous articles it is most significant when Mercury is aspecting your natal chart. You still might notice funny things happening but it will more likely be in your environment than happening to you directly.

"But How is it effecting MeEeE?!"

Where this Full Moon occurs in your chart will reveal what kind of activity will happening. For this you will need to look to your RISING sign.  If you don't know your rising sign you can calculate it here: href ="http://www.cafeastrology.com/ascendantcalculator.html">Cafe Astrology: Rising sign calculator. As always, this is an exceedingly brief look at what is going on for
each rising sign and does not take into account a variety of factors that signify other evens in your life that can mitigate, exaggerate and modify these themes.
