Aries Full Moon Eclipse

The Aries Full Moon Eclipse occurred at 2:50am PST but in a more practical sense it's been happening for days and will continue to be happening in our lives for a good while longer.

In my last article on Mercury Retrograde I talked about how time cycles represented by the planets aren't machinations that play out according to neatly defined human measurements. It doesn't just "happen" one day and end the next. We make clocks and watches to match up with time, not the other way around. Time doesn't care about your calendar just like the tide doesn't care about your sand castles.

So it is with Lunations (new & full Moons) and Eclipses.

While it's technically true that an Eclipse is a relatively brief event where the Moon moves across the Sun, blotting out it's light, The deeper time cycle it represents transcends into the past and future by many days and even weeks and months. However, the immediate days surrounding it are the most intense and the issues tied to it will be undeniable and obvious.

As always, it won't manifest as a big, dramatic event unless it's closely aligned to your natal chart. That said, we can and do experience these things vicariously through the people and events around us.

SPOOKY BLOOD MOON OF REAL ACTUAL BLOOD

This is one of several Eclipses in a pattern of Eclipses called "Blood Moons" in which the Moon will appear red during the event. Big bloody period blood red. It's so red, omg.

I have written about this phenomenon and the paranoia surrounding it in my article on the previous Eclipse.  As much as I love seeing that John Hagee motherfucker making a fool of himself, I'm happy to see that much of the fear-porn surrounding the event has not returned this time. Not that it isn't a time of tribulation upheaval and dramatic events of biblical proportions. It most certainly is. But we will, for the most part, be alive tommorow and the next day in order to clean up this disgusting mess.

The last Eclipse was part of the "Grand Cardinal Cross" in which 4 planets formed a large Square or Cross in the sky. It was one of those things that generated quite a few panic drenched facebook chain letters and then quickly evaporated after it was done. The over hyped Cardinal Cross is gone but the most powerful features of that alignment -Pluto aligned with Uranus, is still very much in effect as demonstrated by mass demonstrations, technological breakthroughs and, perhaps most key of all, revelations of profound corruption in all areas of leadership, government and-buisness.

This Uranus-Pluto thing (activated by this Eclipse)  is very much in the spirit of the American revolution, WWII and the revolutionary spirit of the 1960's complete with a growing awareness of institutionalized racism and corruption within the Government and the Roman centurions -er American Police forces. The only thing missing is the KKK but I guess that's because they literally  traded in sheets for Cop badges and military gear. They still have the same haircuts and dead eyes, though. (to be fair, they didn't trade anything in and they still have the sheets. They are like heavily armed spooky Halloween ghosts.)

This Eclipse is directly lined up with Uranus, the trickster, revolutionary, libertine and rebel angel of the Planetary family. It's both the 'good guys' and the 'bad guys' who are done playing by the rules and are ready to initiate a new world order and destroy the old order. It's Nikola Tesla and Elon Musk. It's Adolf Hitler and George W Bush jr. It's Cops who have betrayed the public and the Public who are sick and tired of the racism and corruption. It's both. The disruption and chaos of collapse will be the fertile ground for a new world both "out there" but also in our own personal lives. So hang on if it's getting crazy. It will calm down in time. But not tommorow.

In our personal lives Uranus disrupts just as much and we, ourselves, may be the ones ready for a rebellion against the status quo and breaking out of old patterns that have turned stale. This Eclipse highlights that ongoing restlessness or unwelcome disruption in our relationships, careers, personal lives and families. Unless you are highly Uranian and loving excitement, Uranus can be very disturbing. Even then, you might be the disturbing force in someone else's life.

CHOOSE BUT CHOOSE WISELY
Eclipses are times of Crisis which is a term related to "choice", meaning this time is about forcing a choice upon us. We must choose. The time for waiting is over. Complicating things, is both Uranus adding the suprise factor and  Mercury has just gone Retrograde so the available details may incorrect in some way. While Mercury is past it's most disruptive stationary point, it will eventually go stationary again at the end of of the month, before gaining speed and moving forward again.

Where will this Eclipse highlight a crisis or "choice point"? Where will Uranus seem to be exerting it's disrupting, surprising influence and sudden changes?

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio-Libra

Planets are not machines. They don't work like light-switches, suddenly "coming on" or "going off" but wax and wane like the moon or rise and fall like the tides or seasons. So, saying "Mercury goes Retro today" is a bit like saying "Today alone it will be summer" on the Solstice.

We in the west tend to think like little machines who want to 'get to the point' but in reality : 'the point is  a curve'.

So it is with retrogrades.

It's speed not so much direction. So, when a planet appears to slow down and stop it's at it's strongest and if it's making an aspect to your chart it will hold that aspect for much longer than usual.

Mercury moves pretty quick so it only takes a few days to slow and stop -and then slowly start reversing. But It can still feel like a long time for things to a bit wacky. I observe an approximate 3-day window of time before -and after the Mercury retro date making the process about a week long rather than a day. The same goes for when Mercury goes Direct, as it will later this month (Oct 25).

Mercury will go Retro exactly conjunct the point of the upcoming New Moon Solar Eclipse at the first degree of Scorpio. Those with Fixed Rising signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) will be experiencing this stronger than many but those who have planets in early fixed signs will experience the power of this most of all.

Mercury will dip back into Libra and finally go Direct at the end of the month on Oct 25th, giving about 3 days Before and After for Mercury to get up to speed and the tide of unusual tricks and mental burglaries to fade back into the celestial sea.

Where will Mercury Retrograde be lighting up my chart? Where might Mercurial themes reverse, become important or strange? Remember, this retrograde station is where the upcoming New Moon Eclipse will occour later in October. The first may foreshadow the second. Be mindfull of this...
